America's 250th Anniversary

On July 4th, 2026, the United States of America celebrates its 250th birthday — a milestone known as the Semiquincentennial. From the first shots fired at Lexington and Concord to the conflicts of the 21st century, every generation of Americans has produced men and women willing to stand in defense of this nation and its ideals. The Lycoming County Veterans Parade Committee is proud to recognize this historic occasion and the veterans of Lycoming County who are part of that unbroken line.

250 Years of Service

Since 1776, Americans have answered the call in every era of conflict — the Revolution, the Civil War, two World Wars, Korea, Vietnam, the Gulf, Iraq, Afghanistan, and beyond. Each generation handed the next a nation worth defending. The veterans we honor in our annual parade are the living continuation of that legacy.

Lycoming County has been part of this story from the very beginning. Settled in the years surrounding the founding of the Republic, this region has sent its sons and daughters into every major conflict in American history. Their service is woven into the fabric of this community.

This year's Veterans Day Parade on November 7th, 2026, in Hughesville takes on added meaning against the backdrop of America's 250th year. We invite the entire community to participate—march with us, sponsor the event, or come out and stand along the route to show your appreciation.

As we celebrate 250 years of American freedom, let us remember that freedom has never been free. The veterans of Lycoming County paid the price — and they deserve our recognition every year, not just on anniversaries.
