★ ★ ★

Jackie L. Eisenhauer, a 1965 graduate of Montgomery Area High School, has dedicated his life to service—first to his country, then to his community. His remarkable journey of courage, sacrifice, and leadership makes him a distinguished choice as our Parade Grand Marshal.

Military Service & Heroism

In May 1966, Jackie enlisted in the U.S. Navy and completed Hospital Corpsman School at Great Lakes, Illinois. After serving at Naval Hospital Portsmouth, Virginia, he received orders in April 1967 for Field Medical Force (FMF) and Jungle Warfare School at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.

In June 1967, Jackie was sent to Vietnam and assigned to India Company, 2nd Platoon, 2nd Squad of the 3rd Battalion, 3rd Marines, 3rd Marine Division, based at the Rock Pile just below the DMZ. His service came at a tremendous personal cost—he was wounded three times in August 1967, including once by a grenade and twice by gunfire during an ambush on August 31, 1967.

Jackie spent nearly a year hospitalized, from August 1967 to May 1968, recovering from his wounds. He was then assigned to the U.S. Naval Hospital in Bethesda, Maryland, where he served from June 1968 until his discharge in May 1970. At Bethesda, he worked in the Administrative Office as the Commanding Officer's driver and managed the Presidential and Vice Presidential suites.

Civilian Career

Following his military service, Jackie worked in local factories before enrolling at Williamsport Area Community College in 1978 for Heavy Equipment School. In 1980, he began a distinguished 21-year career at Lewisburg Federal Penitentiary, from which he retired in 2001.

Community Leadership

Jackie's commitment to veterans and his community is exemplary. He served as Past Commander of American Legion Post 251 in Montgomery in 1975 and as Home Association President of Post 251. He currently serves as Sergeant at Arms and is an active member of the Honor Guard, continuing to honor fellow veterans and serve his community with distinction.

Family

Jackie is married to Christina M. (Warren) Eisenhauer. Together they have two daughters, Kellie S. Munns and Lori R. Maneval, and are proud grandparents to two granddaughters and one grandson.
